The number one rule when trying to make your home more appealing to potential buyers is to avoid being biased. Try to objectively view the situation and understand the market and what sells. Don’t let your personal taste interfere with what the potential buyers will see.

A great way to do this is to ask someone who’s been in the business for a while. Taking advice from your real estate agent or broker is a good route to take. And there are surely some ways that you can let your own style shine through without it being overpowering. Balance is key.

Realty Executives Southern Living Partners with Luxury Home Developer

Realty Executives Southern Living, of Sevierville, TN, is excited to announce their partnership with luxury home developer, Pigs Fly. This partnership will allow the brokerage access to multi-million-dollar listings in the exclusive mountain neighborhood, The Summit Resort.

The Summit, 565 acres and up to 3000 feet in elevation, offers panoramic views of The Great Smoky Mountains, no state income tax, underground utilities, fire protection, direct developer-to-consumer pricing, paved roads and an average of 1.97 acres per home site. Accessible but private, The Summit is an oasis to second homeowners or retirees looking to escape the city. Home developer Shane Wood began building rustic, energy-efficient homes in The Summit in 2009 and has built 13 to date. In 2019, Wood partnered with former contractor David Runyan, who had started Pigs Fly in February of 2018. Together they own 11 properties throughout the Summit.

Wood and Runyan began their friendship after Runyan, originally from Florida, had bought his first home in The Summit. From there, Runyan purchased another property and saw an opportunity to expand the relationship into a business partnership.

The first part of creating the perfect at home gym is finding the right equipment. Most of us won’t have the equipment just lying around since you are used to it being provided by your gym, but you only need a few things to make the most of your workout. A floor mat, resistance bands, dumbbells and a jump rope are a great place to start. The floor mat can be used for several different workouts, core strengthening, yoga and more, depending on what you like. Resistance bands or dumbbells can be used for lower and upper body weightlifting. A jump rope is a challenging but fun way to get cardio in.

Of course, if you are just starting our fitness journey and are wanting to start a little easier, don’t be afraid to just use your body weight! This is still an effective way to get yourself moving and stay active without the need for different equipment.

Realtor Deneen Ruffolo Honored as Lions Club’s “Humanitarian of the Year”

Deneen Ruffolo of Realty Executives Midwest, of Darien, IL was recently awarded the Humanitarian of the Year award by the Darien Lions Club, in collaboration with the city of Darien.

This esteemed award is given to a community and Lions Club member that shows commitment and passion for charitable causes. Ruffolo’s continued effort to assist in Lions Club’s Food Baskets program, Christmas program and more have ensured hundreds of families are left with food on their tables and smiles on their faces during the holiday season. Ruffolo began helping the Darien Lions Club in the mid-90s’ and began spearheading their Christmas gift donations in 2016, organizing the placement and wrapping of over 4,000 gifts to give to families in need.

Ruffolo’s coworkers and family are always in awe of the work she does year after year, thanklessly and happily.

“Deneen taught our children, and now grandchildren, how to properly treat others, to always be kind, not speak poorly of others but rather find the good in them, and to help.” Greg Ruffolo, Ruffolo’s husband, said. “In the end, that is the real reward for her.”

The award ceremony was attended by Joe Marchese, Mayor of Darien, community members and Lions Club President, John Pearson, who presented Ruffolo with a brick to be placed at the Darien Community Park.

Specializing in first-time home buyers, relocation and estate sales, Ruffolo continues to build her real estate career with Realty Executives Midwest, serving DuPage, Cook and several other counties across Illinois.
