Trend for 2026 is planting a wildflower garden that requires little no maintenance.

- Black-eyed Susan bloom early summer to fall and grow up to 3 feet tall; they are good for the middle or back of your flower bed.
- Milk weed attract Monarch butterflies. Pale pink flowers for summer.
- Cone flowers are pinkish-purple flowers that go well next to Black-eye Susan. They bloom all summer long.
- Yarrow has flat-topped clusters of small white flowers with feathery fern-like leaves. They bloom stalks can reach up to 3 feet tall. This plant can act as a ground cover. The flowers bloom from April to October. Plant in the middle of the flower bed for height in early spring.
- Fox glove is a striking plan with tall spikes that produce vertical rows of bell-shaped florets. This plant is toxic to pets and humans. Be cautious when planting.
- Phlox can also be a ground cover. It comes in pink, purple and white. The plant is small flowers for the front of the flower bed to liven up any garden.
- Wild columbine plants look like a plant that comes from another planet, but it’s native to North America. The flower hangs down like a lantern with upward pointing red spurs and bright yellow stamens.
- Evening primrose is a medicinal plant, but it can also do wonders to heal a lack of color in your garden with bright-yellow, citrus-centered flower that opens in the late afternoon or evening, hence the name.
