Luxury homes in Lost Canyon is Scottsdale's best kept secret! Minutes from Scottsale's best restaurants, entertainment, nightclubs and shopping, Lost Canyon lies just north of the 101 Loop, Kierland and the Scottsdale Quarter. The private canyon is owned by just 35 secluded homesites on a minimum of 190,000 square foot lots, and building pads ensuring each home's privacy, and a fulltime guard. Lost Canyon is close to Scottsdale's private airport that services the Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction, equestrian events and Phoenix Open all just 10 minutes away, but far enough to allow residents to enjoy the complete silence and dark sky solitude of the surrounding nature preserve.
Located in the Upper Canyon of the McDowells, Lost Canyon is adjacent to Silverleaf, where Arizona's most expensive home sold in 2022 for over $28million.
The exclusive 240-acre community, touted as Scottsdale's only gated canyon, is about 3 miles southeast of Pima and Pinnacle Peak roads, deep inside the McDowell Mountains. With elevations as high as 2,342 feet, the homes have stunning views to the northwest, but cannot be seen from Pima Road, unlike other nearby homes high on the western slopes of the McDowell Mountains.
Scottsdale based Heyl Corp bought the 240 acres of Lost Canyon in 1994 from the Arizona State Land Department. The homesites average about 6.5 acres.
Lost Canyon is located wintin the northwestern edge of the McDowell Mountains. Lost Canyon is a natural amphitheater of desert foothills, ravines, washes and rock outcroppings enhanced by a well established Sonoran desert landscape with minimal alteration. Lost Canyon is realtively unique amont the desert foothills due to its seclusion, yet close proximity to the rapidly urbanizing 101 Freeway Loop that seperates central Scottsdale (Grayhawk, Kierland, Scottsdale Quarter) from north Scottsdale (Desert Mountain, Carefree, Cave Creek).
Within the confines of the Lost Canyon valley and the environmentally sensitive eco-system, only a limited number of homesites were achievable without major alteration of the hillside. This required strict architectural guidelines and restrictions to ensure a subtle blending of the manmade and natural environment.
Within the building envelope, residences have been sited so that important views are protected, natural drainage is not significantly altered and the overall philosophy of Lost Canyon is implemented by integrating each residence with the natural desert.
There are currently two homes listed in Lost Canyon
Both of these homes are marketed for their contemporary architecture, floor to ceiling glass and 360 degree mountain views.
