Remembering Those Who Served…

(Published on - 5/25/2015 1:51:19 AM)

While Memorial day means a day off of work, a family vacation or the start of summer to many, we ask that you take a few minutes to reflect upon what the true meaning of Memorial Day is.

We enjoy freedom today because of the father/mother, the brother/sister,  the son/daughter, the husband/wife that serve our Country each and every day.

The first national celebration of Memorial Day (originally Decoration Day) took place May 30, 1868, at Arlington National Cemetery. The national observance of Memorial Day still takes place there today, with the placing of a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the decoration of each grave with a small American flag.

Southern women decorated the graves of soldiers even before the end of the Civil War. After the war, a women's memorial association in Columbus, Mississippi, put flowers on the graves of both Confederate and Union soldiers in 1866, an act of generosity that inspired the poem by Francis Miles Finch, "The Blue and the Grey," published in the Atlantic Monthly. In 1971, federal law changed the observance of the holiday to the last Monday in May and extended it to honor all those who died in American wars. People pay tribute not only with flowers but also with speeches and parades. Whom do you honor on Memorial Day?   Source: http://www.americaslibrary.gov/jb/recon/jb_recon_memorial_2.html

(Published on - 5/16/2015 1:48:52 AM)

Welcome Back to our Blog for those of you returning!  If you are new here, we invite you to come back each week to see Why We Love Lake Country!

Welcome to Nashotah!

Did you know that the Village of Nashotah wasn’t incorporated until 9/11/1957?  Prior to that, Nashotah was an unincorporated part of the Town of Delafield and was a popular destination for train travelers. The train station,  located on Rasmus Road,  was originally known as the Pine Lake Station but in 1875 was changed to the Nashotah Station.

Nashotah, is the home to the Red Circle Inn which is the oldest restaurant in Wisconsin. While many people come from miles away to hold wedding receptions at the Red Circle Inn or to enjoy a nice dinner with family and friends, several families call Nashotah Home. The Nashotah community is conveniently located between Hartland and Oconomowoc and many conveniences and families have the opportunity to send their kids to Lake Country School (Pre K-8) with students attending Arrowhead High School for grades 9-12 or there is also a private Pre K-8 school in the village, Lake Country Christian Academy,  as well as other private schools in the surrounding communities.

Looking for outdoor activities to do around Nashotah? Lower Nashotah Lake is a 93 acre lake that offers great fishing. It has a maximum depth of 43 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Trout and Walleye.  Fishing not your thing? Nashotah Park is a 444-acre park nestled among rolling hills, woodlands, wetlands, and grasslands that offer habitat for deer, waterfowl and a variety of songbirds.  Take a walk on the peaceful trails or  visit the wonderful dog park where you can take your furry friends to play.

There are plenty of opportunities to purchase real estate in the Lake Country Area and the Village of Nashotah.  Contact Dale’s Home Selling team, we want YOU to love the Lake Country Area as much as we do.

Welcome Back to our Blog for those of you returning!  If you are new here, we invite you to come back each week to see Why We Love Lake Country!

Today our Journey takes us through the Beautiful Village of Hartland.

To this day, Hartland continues to offer the charm of a small town where residents take pride in their community. With a current population of 9,118 Hartland offers top rated schools, beautiful homes, fine churches, tree lined streets, and spacious parks. The Bark River runs through the downtown adding charm to this quaint village. Offering the best in home town amenities with metropolitan conveniences, Hartland is In the Heart of Lake Country.

Neil Miyashita with our team loves Hartland so much, that when he moved here from Canada, the Village of Hartland became his home.  Neil and his wife Lisa chose Hartland due to the award winning Arrowhead School District for their kids and the central location to many outdoor activities. When Neil isn’t selling real estate, you will find him out riding his bike, assisting someone fix up their home or helping out at his wife’s dance studio (Pewaukee Fred Astaire).
