Fair Facts

1842-2015

*The Waukesha County Fair is the oldest county fair in the state and the largest event in the county!

*The first Waukesha County Fair was held in 1842 in a poplar grove on Carroll Street in Prairieville. It was a gala 4th of July celebration with fireworks and a festive dinner.

*Crowds up to 4,000 people attended the 1853 fair where they enjoyed floral displays and a Ladies’ Equestrian Display.

*In the early 1900s, school was let out early so everyone could attend the Friday fair.

?In 1966, the fair moved to its present location at the Waukesha Exposition Center.

*Entertainment was added to the fair in 1984. The first Main Stage acts included Loretta Lynn, Mickey Gilley and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

*The current Waukesha County Fair has implemented a number of green initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint and to ensure the fair contributes to sustainable travel.

Each year, we put together an event that is family friendly to thank all of our past, current and future customers.  This year we decided, what better place to hold our event than right in the county we call "Home" at the Waukesha County Fair.  On Wednesday July 15th, we are looking forward to seeing many of our customers to say "Thank You" for your business.  If you missed your invitation, we may still have tickets available, please contact us at 262-369-8929, we would love to see you at the fair!

Explore Stone Bank!

(Published on - 6/26/2015 10:15:23 PM)

Located within the Lake Country area near the shores of Okauchee Lake and Moose Lake is a small community rich in history dating back to 1842.  We welcome you to learn more about Stone Bank.

Take a step back in time and venture inside Kuhtz General Store which was established in 1926 and is a 4th generation owned and operated establishment.  Ice cream, candy, games, and more entertain all ages.  Many stop at Kuhtz General Store for lunch where the menu offers sandwiches, giant pretzels, and pizza.  Up the road you will pass a gas station which once included the famous Dotties Bakery, the best doughnuts and cookies a child ever knew about.  Along Hwy K is Butch’s Steakhouse, a great place enjoy a delicious steak with mushrooms.

The 4th of July floods this town with visitors who find tradition in watching one of the greatest parades around.  From fire trucks to old cars, bikes decorated with streamers to homemade floats, local farmers waving from their tractors to witnessing a donkey walk down the street.  This parade begins at Stone Bank School and ends at the Stone Bank Fireman’s park.  Here everyone gathers to eat food and socialize finding old friends and sharing memories.  This year Stone Bank is celebrating their 62nd annual July 4th Festival and Parade by the Lake Country Lions Club.

There has been a school is Stone Bank for over 150 years.  Today Stone Bank School is home to over 360 4K-8th Graders.  Our very own team member Nicole Brown attended Stone Bank School and now her daughter attends.  Many students of the school returned to Stone Bank to raise their families in their hometown where school, family, and neighborhood are top priorities.

The Stone Bank Volunteer Fire Department serves the town of Oconomowoc and the town of Merton.  The history of the department dates back to 1909 when buckets were used to put out the fires.  The fire department is located next to the Fireman’s park where you can catch a softball game or watch the kids swing.  Every year in June you’ll find a festival kicking off Summer where the covered pavilions are full of friends listening to music and enjoying a beer.

Hope see you at the parade on the 4th of July!

The Market is HOT!!

(Published on - 6/11/2015 5:47:27 PM)

This just in....According to the Greater Milwaukee Board of Realtors...

June 11, 2015 – Home sales were up in the Metropolitan Milwaukee market 10.8% for May.  1,880 homes sold in May compared to 1,697 the same month in 2014.  Comparing the numbers to 2013, sales were up 2.3% (1,838 in ‘13).

May was the fourth month of positive sales this year.  Overall, the market is functioning very well, with one exception.  Buyers are very active and some homes in “move in” condition are receiving multiple offers.  However, inventory is still tight.

All four metropolitan counties were in positive sales territory, with Washington and Waukesha Counties leading the way with 34.2% and 19.1%, respectively.

In many instances buyers need to make a decision on placing an offer on a home fairly fast, due to a limited number of houses available in their market segment.  This makes the research phase of home buying all the more important.  Buyers should let their agent know what amenities they want in a home early in the process.  For example, a buyer who wants to be 5 miles from work, or one who wants to be a block from a school, will impact their search areas.

What does this mean for you?  If you are looking to Sell, NOW is the time.  If you are looking to Buy, NOW is the time.  Contact a member of Dale's Home Selling Team to work with a Realtor that knows the Lake Country Area and will help you guide you every step of the way!
