Cork Hardware Store just west of the main intersection at 9 E. Lapeer Street. The first hardware business of record in Peck was McCloud’s Hardware owned and operated by John McCloud from 1912 to 1917. The building was on Mills Street a block south of Lapeer Street. In 1921, Roy Fletcher and Charlie Cork acquired the business and operated it till 1926. That same year, Fletcher moved the business to its current location and operated as R.A. Fletcher Hardware until July 1, 1928 when he sold it to Kenneth M. Cork (Charlie’s nephew). Kenneth conducted business under the name K.M. Cork Hardware In 1948, Kenneth added a back room to the hardware business for more space and a place to put the new gas furnace. Prior to that heating system, there was a coal fired stove. Inventory in the store is everything from way back when to today’s necessities. This listing includes the hardware store and all appurtenances, all the current inventory, two lots, 2 warehouse buildings and a small office on Mill Street.
