Hikers and Rock Hounds also explore the massive mineral outcroppings found about the lake. This area is also known for western Marquette County Snowmobiling and Cross-County Skiing opportunities. The Village of Michigamme borders on the west end of the lake, were you can find shopping for clothing, fine art, and local crafts - and there is dining, fuel and groceries available near by. This are is a very popular destination for many generations of families and sports persons, and is rich in pioneering, logging, and mining history! Craig Lake State Park, Van Riper State Park and the McCormick Wilderness are minutes away for hiking, fishing, and views of moose.
