4 Ways You Can Enjoy the Community in Phase 1 of Flagler County, FL

(Published on - 5/14/2020 3:29:44 PM)

As Palm Coast and Flagler county celebrate Phase 1 by opening up little by little, here are some things you can do to support and enjoy the community while under "Guarded Optimism:

1.  Support the beach

Flagler county beaches have been opened since April 26th, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!  There are no restircitions (i.e. only being open for physical activity) but they do request for groups to remain 10 or less and for everyone to remain 6 feet apart (although you'll find groups are further apart than that!)  Since May is one of the best months for enjoying the beach, we are so glad it opened up so we can enjoy the fresh air!  No activity is limited, including laying out on the beach, which leads me to the next point...

2. Support local restaurants

Many small businesses are doing a limited re-opening as of May 4th and most restaurants that line Flagler beachside are no exception!  Each restaurant has their own opening guidelines (some are remaining closed for the time being while other are ready to open up!)  Restaurants can have outdoor seating and are limited to 25% capacity indoors with screens installed in front of checkout places.  Google your favorite restuarant to see if they are open and how they're doing business now!

3. Support your nearest Hair/Nail Salon and Barber!

As of May 11th, some salons and barber shops have opened and many are itching to get back to looking their best.  Supporting these workers will mean so much, as they have been closed for a couple months up to this point.  Google the shop you'd like to go to and follow their safety guidelines.  Try calling ahead of time to make an appointment (as lines have been reported to be out the door!) and be sure to leave a tip!

4. Support the parks!

Parks have been open for recreation and exercise as of May 4th as well!  From the gardens of Washington Oaks to the playgrounds of Seminole Woods park, here are some of the parks and their guidelines (taken from here):

The following parks and their respective trails will open starting Monday, May 4. Hours will be reduced to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All restrooms, playgrounds and pavilions will remain closed.
·       Bird of Paradise Nature Preserve
·       Central Park in Town Center
·       Graham Swamp
·       Heroes Memorial Park
·       Hidden Lakes Trail
·       Long Creek Nature Preserve
·       Palm Coast Linear Park/St. Joe Walkway
·       Waterfront Park/Intracoastal Waterway Trail

The following recreational amenities and active sports parks to include the basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts remain closed.
·       Belle Terre Park
·       Community Center Park
·       Indian Trails Sports Complex
·       James F. Holland Memorial Park
·       Ralph Carter Park
·       Seminole Woods Neighborhood Park
·       Palm Coast Aquatics Center
·       Palm Coast Community Center
·       Palm Harbor Golf Course
·       Palm Coast Tennis Center
·       All public restrooms, park pavilions, and playgrounds

So break out your bike, your walking shoes, or your favorite mobile sport gear and head outside!  This Spring has been fantastic so far, you don't want to miss what Palm Coast and Flagler have to offer.
