We are hosting an open house this Saturday at 333 Spetz Ave in Powassan from 10 AM -12 PM. We hope to see you there.
As you wind those clocks forward, check out these interesting facts about daylight savings:
In 1784, Benjamin Franklin first conceived the concept of daylight savings. DLS was not observed by many countries or regions until 1966 when The Uniform Time Act was formed in the U.S. The dates for DLS then became the last Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October, although states could choose to participate. 1974-1975 U.S. Congress extends DLS to save energy during the energy crisis. By 1986, approximately 70 countries observe DLS and the dates were reformed to the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. August 8th 2005, President George W. Bush enacts the Energy Policy Act of 2005, extending DLS again in 2007 to the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Hawaii, Arizona and many territories in the U.S. still do not observe DLS as well as many countries near the equator, Japan and China.
