5 Free Things to Do In The Orlando Area

(Published on - 6/30/2020 4:47:48 PM)

There is so much to do in the Orlando area, some of which can cost you a little and others that do not cost a thing. We believe it is better to spread the word on some free things to do in the area just because lots of people will not know until they read it, just like we did. Who does not like free stuff?

Harry P. Leu Gardens

At Leu Gardens, you can explore a 50-acre botanical haven. Located just a few minutes from downtown Orlando, you get to enjoy 3 miles of walkways, butterfly gardens, rose gardens, ancient oak trees, sweet air aroma, and more. Leu Gardens is also open for weddings and is a great spot for pictures. Admission is free on the 1st Monday of every month! It is a wonderful experience; you can go and enjoy the scenery on a nice day off.

Disney Springs

At Disney Springs, you will find plenty. For one thing, entrance is free. Another thing is once you are in, there are so many places and things to experience, for free! Lots of new third party stores have opened up to allow guests a shopping experience. There are restaurants and coffee shops, like Starbucks, on sight. You have the World of Disney store, which is an experience of its own. There is a boat that you can ride to get across the Disney Springs areas, which is also free! Even if you do not intend to go into any stores, walking around Disney Springs is a ton of fun.

Farmer’s Market

If you love strolling through booths of fine local produce, handcrafted souvenirs, organic toiletries, and fresh bread, then the Farmer’s Market is just the place for you. You will normally find one in the heart of Downtown Orlando as well as Winter Park. You can simply choose to enjoy this festive place for locals to gather and soak up the energetic vibes or go buy that fresh produce. Either way, entrance is free, and the experience is a great one no matter the reason for visiting. So, grab your coffee and come on down for a stroll! The Winter Park market is typically held every Saturday morning from 7 am to 1 pm and is held in a historic train depot. (COVID might have affected hours- call to ensure they are open!)

The Grand Bohemian Gallery

For art lovers, this is the place for you. There is no excuse not to visit the Grand Bohemian Gallery. Located in the Grand Bohemian Hotel in downtown Orlando, this frequently rotating collection of fine art features new and traditional artwork. You can find internationally renowned artists’ pieces here as well as paintings, sculpture, craftwork, and more. They also have periodic special events like trunk shows by local jewelry designers. Admission to the gallery is totally free.

Nature Trails

There are so many nature trails in Orlando, it is hard to count. You will find some in places you did not even think would have a trail. Some people can even find them in their neighborhoods/communities. Bear Creek Nature Trail is one of many. It might sound terrifying, but the trail is a popular one where you will likely find friendly walkers, runners, and bikers along the way. The trail is full of trees, including the famous Florida palms, and it runs in a loop so you can’t get lost! Below is a link to different nature trails you can find in Orlando!
