Barb Mecum - Biography

I specialize in residential real estate in the Green Valley, Sahuarita, and the Tubac and Santa Cruz areas. I love all that this beautiful part of Arizona has to offer, and have been a homeowner myself in Tubac since 2011. I encourage you to get in touch with your questions and inquiries - I love to talk about real estate and would like to help you find your "just right" home.

I'd be happy to put together a day of touring, so please give me a call. Whether you've been looking online and have found several homes to tour, or you would like me to do the searching for you, I'm here to help. From searching to purchasing, I can help you with the process.

After a 30 year career with the University of Alaska system and the Juneau School District, I've finally followed my long-time goal of working in real estate. Working my way from a public information officer with the University system in Fairbanks and in Juneau, to grants writer, and middle and high school English teacher, to a school principal supervising a staff of 70 and over 700 students in the last decade of my career with the school district, I bring my love of "working on behalf of folks" to my work as a realtor.

My husband and I moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1981, fresh out of the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. In 1986 we moved to Juneau, Alaska where we have lived since, raising our two children and pursuing our careers. We made many wonderful family trips to Arizona over the years basking in it's beauty, warmth, and sunshine. It kept calling us back, and eventually we found Tubac and knew with each trip that it was a place we hated to leave and to which we couldn't wait to get back. We purchased our home in 2011, and have rennovated it over the years.

A few years ago, I began training for triathalon, and have competed in several sprint triathalons. Our Arizona climate provides excellent opportunities for swimming, cycling, and running. In 2015, I competed in the El Tour de Tucson which I thoroughly enjoyed (I finished in the top 20% of the 40-miler group).  Golf is also at the top of the list for both my husband and I.
