Property Taxes In The Villages Florida

The Villages Florida occupies a portion of Sumter, Marion, and Lake counties. These counties collect ad valor um property taxes and non-ad valor um assessments.  Property taxes are assessed and collected in arrears on a calendar-year-basis.  Non-ad valor um assessments, appearing on the tax bill, are collected in advance on a fiscal-year basis (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30).  As seen below, tax rates and assessments can vary substantially among the three counties.  There is no bond or CDD Maintenance Assessment for homes in the Orange Blossom Gardens portion of Lake County.  The highest tax bill will be for new and pre-owned homes located in Lake County south of CR-466.

Note: Taxes and assessments for The Villages of Sumter and Marion counties are based on a $300,000 purchase price within Unit 218 in the Village of Hillsborough in Sumter County and within Unit 44 in the Village of Piedmont in Marion County.
