This section may be boring but if you want to know more about me, be my guest and read on.
I am a life-long resident of Dutchess County and have been a full-time real estate professional for more than 32 years. I began my career at R. Ferris Real Estate in Lagrange in 1987. In 1995 I joined Weichert, Realtors where I won many sales awards. In 1997 I was promoted to manager of the Weichert Fishkill office where I was twice named Manager of the Year.
In 2002 I left Weichert to open my own company, Realty Executives - Williams-Sykes Realty (Sykes being the maiden name of my wife, Beverly). I was a 1-person office when I opened. I set out to recruit talented professionals who shared my vision of what a real estate company should be and was fortunate to attract many outstanding agents. Over the last 17 years our company has established itself as one of the top real estate companies in Dutchess County. In fact, no new company which has opened in Dutchess County in the last 35 years has closed more sales than we have. Our agents average more than twice the number of sales than any other company in our marketplace.
Why Experience Matters
Nothing can replace experience. Today's real estate transactions are complicated and fraught with danger and pitfalls that can spoil your deal and upset your plans. Buyers and sellers need a professional who is skilled in managing the many obstacles that can scuttle a deal. Trusting your future to someone without experience is an unnecessary gamble.
Over the course of my career I have participated in more than 4,000 sales as either an agent, manager, or broker-owner. I spend much of my time solving problems. There is virtually no situation that could threaten your deal that I have not personally handled many times before.
This is a 'People Business' First
Real estate is a people business and my life is rich with experiences of accomplishment, leadership, and successful interaction with others. At Roy C Ketcham high school, I graduated with honors, captained the track and cross country teams, and in 2009 was inducted into the Wappingers School District Sports Hall of Fame.
At Albany University, I was elected captain of the cross-country team by my teammates, as a sophomore – the first ever sophomore to be named captain. After I transferred to Binghamton University, once again I was elected captain of the track and cross country teams. I graduated with a degree in business management.
I have also served as president of the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club, an elder at Hopewell Reformed Church, a board member of the Dutchess County Association of Realtors, and a trustee of the Lagrange Association library. I am also a writer who has published four books for real estate agents and I've narrated 11 books that can be found at Audible.com, Amazon.com, and iTunes. .
I have been married to Beverly for 35 years and we have been blessed with four wonderful children and a grandson.
