New Berlin Great Place to Live and Have Fun

(Published on - 9/22/2017 5:44:54 PM)

As I was thinking of what to share about my home-town of New Berlin this week, I was happy to see that this town that I grew up in made National News (in a Good Way) !

I just read that Money Magazine just posted it's TOP 100 Best Places to Live in America for 2017... and NEW BERLIN was ranked #11.    Rated based on several criteria, including housing, jobs and projected job growth, schools, and family activities (among others).   Having grown up in New Berlin and raised my family in New Berlin after getting married, I concur with their ratings. We can be proud of the family-friendly atmosphere in this City that still has small-town values.

One of the fun activities that is available throughout the year is at a Vintage Farm Market - Hawthorne Hill Farm.  Located at 16370 West Small Road (just west of Moorland Road) this old farmstead has gotten a renewal and is a popular creative outlet. Several times a year  Bonnie Lynn Loduha, the owner of  Hawthorne Hill Farm, invites Vendors to set up and the 1870's Barn, buildings and yard is filled will more than 50 local artisans that show and sell their treasures. Plenty of "Delicious Treats" are also available.  Don't miss the Halloween & Harvest Market- scheduled for Oct 6,7 and 8.  Admission and Parking is FREE.  Another Holiday Market is scheduled for Nov 3rd, 4th & 5th.

Make sure you put this on your "must-do list"  More information at HawthorneHillFarm.com and on their Facebook page @HawthorneHillFarm

There are alot of fun things to do in New Berlin. Glad to call this my Home Town.

New Berlin Fun for the Family right here in town

(Published on - 9/7/2017 12:43:37 PM)

New Berlin, Wisconsin is a wonderful suburban city just west of Milwaukee County on the east side of Waukesha County.

Growing up in New Berlin in the 1950's-'60's it was much different than it is now.

Back then, most of the city was farmers fields.  Corn fields, apple orchards (several of which are still here), like Patterson Orchards and Weston's Antique Apples  dotted the countryside. It's that time of year to take the family to visit the Apple orchards. Can't you just smell the delicious apple pies coming out of the oven?

Much has changed as the city has expanded, but the family-friendly atmosphere is still apparent. This is why so many people are drawn to this area and those that grew up here, continue to come back to raise their families.

There are alot of family-friendly activities available in New Berlin. One place that I have learned such great things about is Kids In Motion .  Located in the shopping center on the corner of Greenfield Ave and Sunny Slope Rd, this indoor "Activity Center" provides hours of fun and educational experiences for kids.  From arts and crafts, laser tag, open play area, train room, even science and conservation room for kids 5 and up.

There are Birthday Party packages.  They have had movie nights, music, and more.

If you haven't visited Kids In Motion yet, you really need to make it a point to check it out.  This great family-owned business provides a fun outlet for you to take the kids (or grand-kids).

I'm glad I could share a bit about my home-town with you. Watch for updates as I feature other New Berlin special places.
