Memorial Day Murph!

The Team loves to stay active and we do so through many different types of activities. We came together this past Memorial Day to honor fallen soldier, Navy SEAL Michael Murphy, by completing the CrossFit workout "Murph".
"Murph" is more than just a tough endurance workout. It’s also classified as a CrossFit Hero workout. A little background: this specific brutal WOD (workout of the day) was named after Officer Michael Murphy, as he was killed in action in Afghanistan and received the Medal of Honor for his heroics in Operation Red Wings. The workout was Murphy’s favorite, and he performed it while wearing heavy body armor while deployed. The workout consists of:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Air Squats
1 mile Run
It was an honor to complete the workout as a team, as our small way to remember, and show our appreciation to those men and women who have lost their lives while serving our country.

Rainwater Harvesting

Team Member Sara White recently attended a Water Harvesting class and returned with lots of great information. With a hot summer and eventual monsoons headed our way, a rainwater harvesting system is something every homeowner might consider to conserve water.
 
In addition to High Efficiency Toilet (HET) Rebates and Clothes Washer Rebates, Tucson Water offers a Rainwater Harvesting Rebate of up to $2000. In order to qualify for this rebate, residents must be Tucson Water Customers and attend an approved Rainwater Harvesting Incentives Program Workshop.

Tumamoc is a Team Pick!

A favorite activity of the Bizzy Orr Team is hiking Tumamoc Hill. Bizzy and Jeff tackle the walk on a weekly basis, and on a recent Saturday morning, Sara and Rane joined in. If you haven't hiked Tumamoc, it's a must do. The hike is 1.5 miles to the top and the views are worth the work. Spring Cleaning

The days are getting longer and warmer and before we know it, summer will be here! Now is the time to tackle some outdoor maintenance projects before it gets too hot. Spring weekends are the perfect time to do some extra work around the house.
**Wash windows - Clean windows inside and out for a lighter and brighter home.
**Clean gutters and down spouts - Clogged gutters and downspouts can cause the wood trim to rot. Check that downspouts are working properly and diverting water away from your foundation.
**Clean your wood-burning fireplace- Remove any leftover charred wood and ashes and gently clean the inside of the fireplace. Leave the chimney cleaning to a professional.
**Check your sprinkler and irrigation system - Check that sprinkler heads are undamaged. Ensure that sprinkler heads are spraying intended areas to avoid wasting water.
**Check screen doors and windows - This is the time of year to open windows and doors! In order to avoid any critters from entering your home, be sure that screens are free of tears/holes.
**Inspect the roof. Check out our blog article on Roof Maintenance.
**Reseal exterior woodwork - Exterior woodwork will last longer if it is resealed every year or two. Check for damage and make any needed repairs.
**Schedule AC service - Have a licensed professional service the unit prior to usage and be sure to change the filters.
